At Heli-Aust we have achieved an impeccable safety record through our high level of pilot training, qualifications and safety awareness across the company's diverse scope of operations. Employing a crew of up to 50 pilots, Heli-Aust maintains the strictest regime of training, upgrading and currency standards.

All our pilots undergo routine line checks to maintain operational standards as well as annual flight reviews with an independent check and training organisation to ensure they are proficient in all normal and emergency procedures and satisfy company and CASA recency requirements.
Company policy requires pilots meet a majority of the following criteria:
- In excess of 1000 hours helicopter command time - Low level helicopter flying experience - Ag rated or heli mustering endorsed - Mountain flying experience - Helicopter Night VFR or IFR rated - Search and Rescue approval - Sling and winch endorsed - Hover entry and exit experienced - CRM (Crew Resource Management) - HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
Ground crews receive extensive training in load handling, directing aircraft, safety at heights, emergency procedures and safety briefings.
All Heli-Aust crew are proficient as follows;
- OH&S green card certificated - Communications and signaling procedures - Rigger training - Sling and Winching - Hover entry and exit - Search and Rescue - CRM (Crew Resource Management) - HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training)
