CASA Approval
Heli-Aust and its associated companies are audited by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as part of our approval to operate.

The company's Operations Manual and SMS (Safety Management System) is CASA approved. This document identifies and establishes the fundamental principles by which the company operates ensuring safe and legal conduct of business.

External Safety Audit
Heli-Aust appoints an independent consultant to carry out audits on the company and to consult if required.

Internal Compliance Audit
Heli-Aust employs an internal Safety Officer to check OH&S documentation on a daily basis.

Independent Quality Assurance
Heli-Aust is audited from time to time by external groups to assess Quality Assurance for specific contracts, such as Fugro Airborne Surveys, and BHP Billiton who conduct these checks on a regular basis.

Achieving Certification to a Quality or OHS Standard by a JAS-ANZ accredited external and independent body ensures scrutiny by qualified JAS-ANZ approved auditors. A quality management system is all about having a viable management system, which is able to ensure it delivers an expected and desired service or product reliably and repeatedly, and monitors, reviews and continuously improves the performance of the Company to meet international benchmarks.

The Heli-Aust Group - which includes BA and AS etc has chosen to seek and maintain certification to ISO 9001 Quality Management System and AS/NZS 4801 Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standards to provide our clients with confidence in the safety and integrity of our operations. We run these systems in conjunction with, and to support, our CASA compliant flight ‘Operations Manual’ and maintenance ‘System of Quality Control’.

To achieve and maintain certification to the selected standards Heli-Aust participates in a rolling three year external audit surveillance programme. Every third year in this programme we have a comprehensive whole of systems ‘Triennial Audit’. This audit programme confirms our standards continue to be maintained to certification level.

Ensuring appropriate qualifications, skills, experience and ongoing training of all personnel is a significant component of our business spend. This allows our operations personnel to make informed decisions when assessing and controlling risks relevant to our operations.

CASA maintains an audit programme to ensure safety compliance of our flight operations and maintenance facility. Heli-Aust undertakes an internal auditing programme to confirm the business is meeting its own quality and health and safety requirements, and conforming to the requirements of the International Standards.

Some of our clients also choose to conduct independent audits of our company against their own defined standards.

Our clients can have confidence that not only do we comply with CASA safety requirements, we have also achieved international safety and quality benchmarks demonstrated by certification to ISO 9001 and AS/NZS4801.
